Anxiety and chronic stress have been shown to weaken the immune system and thus favor severe courses of viral and other diseases. Fear makes people incapable of action and manipulable and is therefore contrary to the basic idea of democracy - borne by responsible citizens. We advocate responsible, salutogenic and proportionate handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.
